U.S. State Department spokesman Matthew Miller noted in a statement that "the United States condemns the new judicial ruling" against Navalny, considering it an "unjust end to an unfair trial." Miller stated that "by conducting this new trial in secret and allowing Navalny’s lawyers to only review the alleged evidence, Russian authorities have once again shown that they do not provide a fair trial to those who dare to criticize the regime."
