The Afaq Association for Astronomy in Taif stated that the world will witness two solar eclipses and two lunar eclipses in 2022, noting that a solar eclipse and a lunar eclipse will be visible from Saudi Arabia. In a statement to "Sabq," the association explained that the first partial solar eclipse on April 30, 2022, will be observable from South America, parts of Antarctica, and over the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, but it will not be visible in Saudi Arabia or the Arab world.
Additionally, on May 16, the first total lunar eclipse (blood moon) will occur, visible in North and South America, Europe, Africa, and parts of Asia, with a partial visibility in Saudi Arabia, but difficult to observe as the eclipse will occur when the moon is very close to the western horizon, requiring professionals to observe the phenomenon. The eclipse will begin at 4:32 AM Saudi time.
The Afaq Association for Astronomy also mentioned that on October 25, 2022, the second partial solar eclipse of the year will occur, which can be seen in most parts of Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, and western parts of Asia, and will be partially visible in Saudi Arabia, starting around 1:30 PM Mecca time.
Finally, they indicated that on November 7, 2022, a total lunar eclipse will happen, which will not be observed in Saudi Arabia but can be seen from Asia, Australia, North America, and parts of northern and eastern Europe, as well as most of South America.
