Accusation of a Twenty-Year-Old for the Murder of Actress Lisa Benes in Manhattan

The New York Police announced on Friday the arrest of a 26-year-old man and the charges brought against him related to a traffic incident in Manhattan in June that resulted in the death of American actress Lisa Benes. A police spokesman told AFP that the man was arrested last Thursday and has been charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian and fleeing after causing a fatal accident.

Lisa Benes (65), who was visiting New York City on June 4, suffered a head injury after being struck by a scooter driver who ran a red light while she was crossing the street. She died ten days later from her injuries. The incident occurred near the Lincoln Center in the Upper West Side of Manhattan. While Benes was fighting for her life in the hospital, her partner Catherine Cranold appealed through the "Daily News" for witnesses to come forward with information to help authorities apprehend the scooter driver.

Lisa Benes appeared in many works in film and television, including comedic series such as "Roseanne," and she also performed in plays on Broadway. She featured in notable films including "Gone Girl" in 2014 and "Cocktail" in 1988 alongside Tom Cruise.
