"Barbie" as Queen Elizabeth on Anniversary of Her Ascendancy to the Throne

Queen Elizabeth will be honored with the release of a Barbie doll in her likeness to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of her accession to the throne. The doll’s manufacturer, Mattel, stated that it is commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Queen's reign with a special Barbie collection. The doll wears an ivory-colored dress and a blue sash adorned with miniature models of medals and ribbons. The doll also sports a crown similar to the one Elizabeth wore on her wedding day. Today, Thursday, marks the Queen's ninety-sixth birthday, and she ascended the throne following the death of her father, King George VI, on February 6, 1952. She is the longest-reigning monarch in British history. The doll will be sold at Harrods, Selfridges, and Hamleys in London ahead of the official Platinum Jubilee celebrations in early June.
