Arrest of the Mastermind Behind Smuggling Operations at the Airport

The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division has issued the following statement: "As part of the efforts of the Judicial Police Unit to combat all types of crimes, a smuggling attempt involving a quantity of drugs at Rafic Hariri International Airport was thwarted. One of the female travelers was found to be hiding 2 kg of hashish in her body. Through extensive investigations conducted by the Central Anti-Narcotics Bureau, the identity of the mastermind behind the smuggling operation was determined to be:

- M. A. (born in 1993, Syrian nationality)

On August 21, 2022, after reconnaissance and monitoring operations, the location of the apartment used by the suspect in Bashamoun was identified. A force from the special group raided the apartment and arrested him inside. Upon searching him and the apartment, the following was found:

- 43g of marijuana

- 100g of "doka" drug

- A quantity of hashish

- One mobile phone, three passports, and a Qatari driving license.

The detainee, along with the seized items, has been referred to the Central Anti-Narcotics Bureau for further investigation in accordance with the directives of the competent judiciary."
