Arrest of the Ringleader of a Theft Gang

The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following statement: "As part of the continuous follow-up carried out by the Information Branch of the Internal Security Forces to combat theft in various Lebanese areas, and after the increase in theft operations in the Bekaa region, the branch intensified its informational and field efforts to identify the gang members and arrest them.

As a result of investigations and inquiries, the branch was able to identify the ringleader of a gang involved in stealing cars and motorcycles, known as: M. M. (born in 2003, Syrian). On June 20, 2022, after surveillance and monitoring, one of the branch's patrols carried out an effective ambush in the town of Majdal Anjar - West Bekaa, which resulted in the arrest of the aforementioned individual.

During the investigation, he confessed that he leads a gang specializing in stealing motorcycles and cars, and that he has carried out numerous thefts in the Bekaa governorate in areas such as: Chtaura, Bar Elias, the border crossing, and Deir Zenoun. He also admitted to selling the stolen goods in the town of Brital for financial sums. Legal action was taken against him, and he was referred to the relevant authority based on the instructions of the competent judiciary."
