A Family Trip to the Beach Turns into a Tragedy

An Indian man did not expect that his trip with his family, consisting of three members, coming from Ajman to relax at the Al-Bait Mutahid beach in Umm Al-Quwain, would turn into a tragic journey just two hours after their arrival. They faced drowning due to high waves and dangerous currents, resulting in the wife drowning while the husband, son, and daughter survived after struggling against the sea currents that pulled them into the water.

According to Brigadier Khalifa Salem Al-Shamsi, Director of the Comprehensive Police Stations Administration in Umm Al-Quwain Police, the operations room received a report yesterday about a drowning incident at the Al-Bait Mutahid beach in Umm Al-Quwain. The relevant authorities were immediately dispatched, and it was determined that the family was of Indian nationality, having come from Ajman for a relaxing day at the beach. The father is 49 years old, the mother is 32, and their son and daughter are four years old.

He explained that the family arrived at the beach at 7 a.m. and at 9 a.m., the husband entered the water, followed by his son, daughter, and wife. Due to the high waves and rough sea, the wife and daughter drowned while the son managed to swim out safely. The husband also exited the water but was unable to rescue his wife and daughter because he was exhausted from struggling against the strong currents and high waves.

The husband called for help from beachgoers, and they managed to bring his wife and daughter out of the water, who were in critical condition due to swallowing large amounts of water. The National Ambulance provided first aid and transported them to Umm Al-Quwain Hospital, where the wife passed away from the effects of drowning upon arrival, while the daughter's condition stabilized.

He mentioned that beachgoers should be cautious and avoid entering the water during high waves and should wear protective swimming aids. Parents should also keep a close eye on their children and not leave them unattended at any time when going to the beach for swimming.
