The Reason to Avoid Storing Glass Cups Upside Down

A TikTok user shared an important tip with homemakers about not storing glass cups and glasses upside down in kitchen cabinets and shelves. In a video that has garnered 3.6 million views and 128,000 likes so far, the user named @Bs.hidden.secrets shared their advice. According to this popular TikToker, who has over 76,000 followers, storing a glass cup upside down means that all the weight is supported by the rim, which is usually the "most fragile part" of the glass. Over time, this makes the glass more susceptible to breaking, according to the British newspaper Mirror.

Some agreed with the TikTok star's advice, with one commenter stating that it is "disgusting to store the part you drink from facing the surface as it collects dust." However, others criticized the video, joking that one simply needs to buy stronger glass cups. One user remarked, "I have always stored them upside down. I have never had any problems at all." Another person wrote, "I haven't broken glass cups in 50 years," while a third added, "I store them upside down to prevent dust from gathering inside them. If they break, I just buy a replacement."
