Everton Stops Liverpool's Train with a Goalless Draw

Liverpool failed to score for the first time this season in the English Premier League, drawing 0-0 with their hosts and rivals Everton on Saturday in the Merseyside Derby, marking the opening of the sixth round and returning to their fluctuating results. At Goodison Park, in front of approximately 40,000 spectators, Liverpool, temporarily sitting in fifth place, could not maintain their momentum after achieving two consecutive victories against Bournemouth (9-0) and a hard-fought 2-1 win over Newcastle, following a shaky start that included two draws and a loss to Manchester United.

On the other hand, Everton recorded their fourth consecutive draw after two initial losses. Despite the negative result, the match featured several significant chances that did not find the net, with a total of 37 shots by both teams (23 for Liverpool and 14 for Everton). Liverpool's Uruguayan striker Darwin Núñez returned to the squad after serving a three-match suspension for his red card against Crystal Palace. Liverpool's captain Jordan Henderson was absent due to injury, while Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino and Scottish left-back Andrew Robertson started on the bench before coming on in the second half.
