The Minister of Education in the caretaker government, Dr. Abbas Halabi, held a series of side meetings during the "Global Conference of Education Ministers" taking place at the "Queen Elizabeth II Center" in London.
In this context, he met with the Tunisian Minister of Education, Fathi Slawati, where they discussed the workshop for curriculum modification that Tunisia is conducting, similar to the workshop being held in Lebanon, and they explored the exchange of experiences. Halabi requested the "renewal of the cooperation agreement and higher education grants that Tunisia provided to Lebanese students."
He also met with Jaime Saavedra, the Global Director of Education at the World Bank, informing him of "the difficulties facing the education sector due to the crises in Lebanon and the necessity of securing funding for the upcoming school year so that Lebanon can continue its education." Saavedra promised to work on securing funding sources for this process.
Halabi met with Antoine Boriss, the Director of Marketing and Sales Strategies at Microsoft, discussing assistance for Lebanon in its digital transformation strategy, as well as logistical and financial support to achieve this transformation.
He also met with several senior officials at Amazon, discussing the possibility of developing skills at the university level.
Halabi is scheduled to meet tomorrow with British Minister of Education Nadhim Zahawi at his office in the Ministry of Education in London.
