Recent reports from the United States indicate that a hunter from Mississippi has managed to capture the largest alligator ever recorded. Photos circulating on social media reveal the astonishing size of the animal. According to the Daily Mail, the alligator measures over four meters in length and weighs approximately 410 kilograms. This alligator was caught in southern Florida after it had been preying on livestock in the area for eighty years.
The hunter was able to locate the alligator in a private lake and shot it in the head using an "STW" rifle. After injuring the alligator, it was pulled from the lake in what was described as an "exciting" hunt. Subsequently, the hunter placed the alligator's head on the wall as decoration to remind him of the unforgettable hunting trip, while the meat was processed.
When the hunter shared the photo on social media, it garnered extensive interaction, with thousands of shares of the animal's images. However, such photos of hunted animals often evoke anger, particularly among animal rights activists. Critics condemn the killing of animals for entertainment or using their parts as decoration, especially when there is no need for their meat or any vital use.
Proponents of alligator hunting, however, argue that the hunter did a service by freeing farmers from the threat posed by the livestock-eating creature.
