Denmark Becomes the First Country to Halt COVID-19 Vaccinations: The Pandemic Under Control

After its health authorities announced that the COVID-19 pandemic is "under control," Denmark will become the first country in the world to stop vaccination programs against "COVID-19." The Scandinavian country's health agency stated that it has decided to end the program starting May 15, following the fact that "many have been vaccinated," noting that "new infections are declining and hospitalization rates are stable." Copenhagen lifted all COVID-19-related restrictions last February after the third wave of the pandemic subsided.

Polly Suborg, the Director of Infectious Diseases at the Danish Health Authority, stated, "Therefore, we are in the process of ending the comprehensive vaccination program." However, according to British network "Sky News," health officials have outlined a plan to potentially resume the program after the summer, based on possible developments. Suborg remarked, "We plan to reinstate the vaccination program in the fall. This will be preceded by a comprehensive professional assessment of who will receive the vaccine and for how long, along with identifying the appropriate vaccines." Approximately 81% of the country's population of 5.8 million people has received two doses of the vaccine, while 62% have received a booster dose.
