The Arab Club That Made an Offer to Sign Ronaldo

Sports journalist Saud Al-Sarami, former spokesman for Saudi club Al-Nassr, revealed the name of the Saudi team that made an offer to sign Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United. A report published by CNN in its Portuguese edition on Monday stated that a Saudi club entered negotiations to acquire Ronaldo, without disclosing the name of the club. The network confirmed that the Saudi team's offer included a €30 million transfer fee for Manchester United, along with an annual salary of €125 million for Ronaldo, totaling €250 million over two years, which is the duration of the contract, plus a €20 million commission for his agent, Portuguese Jorge Mendes. However, Saud Al-Sarami disclosed on his personal Twitter account the name of the Saudi club interested in signing Ronaldo. He wrote, "CNN's Portuguese news is correct, referring to Al-Hilal." He added, "But the mentioned amount is much lower than what the channel close to the global star Cristiano Ronaldo announced." It is worth noting that the Portuguese newspaper "Record" confirmed that Ronaldo rejected the offer made to him to play in Saudi Arabia due to his desire to continue playing at the highest levels of football despite his advancing age. Speculation and rumors about Ronaldo's future have increased since English media reported that the Portuguese star informed Manchester United's management of his desire to leave Old Trafford this summer.
