A cat has gained widespread notoriety after showcasing remarkable skills in stealing belongings from neighbors, prompting attention from both residents and police in Christchurch, southern New Zealand. The cat, named "Keith," started its amusing criminal activities by stealing pieces of clothing and shoes belonging to neighbors, but recently it returned home carrying a "bong," a tool used for smoking cannabis, along with a bag of an unknown white powder.
David and Jenny Rumbold, the owners of the 5-year-old cat, told the British newspaper "The Guardian" that "his ambitions seem to have grown." Jenny jokingly remarked, "I suggested he bring back diamonds and cash instead, but that hasn't happened yet." She added that "the residents are more amused than bothered by the cat," but Keith's recent discoveries have captured the police's attention.
According to a police spokesperson, "What is particularly concerning is Keith's latest find (the tool used for smoking cannabis). We will look into it and ask him where he got it." The small family resorted to placing the stolen items Keith brings home in boxes outside their house so neighbors can reclaim their lost belongings, but the cat's owners say that he has a habit of stealing the same items repeatedly.
