Al-Hilal won the Saudi Super Cup for the third time in its history, defeating Al-Faisaly in a penalty shootout after the match ended 2-2 in regular time. Al-Faisaly took the lead with two quick goals by Muhammad Al-Omari and Roman Amalfitano in the 16th and 24th minutes. Al-Hilal's Salem Al-Dawsari reduced the gap with a spectacular overhead kick five minutes before the end of the first half. Yasser Al-Shahrani equalized for Al-Hilal just eight minutes into the second half, leading both teams to a penalty shootout that favored Al-Hilal.
