Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, forward for Manchester United, announced the death of his infant son with model Georgina Rodriguez months after his birth. Ronaldo wrote a sorrowful message on his Instagram account: "With great sadness, we announce the death of our child. It is the greatest pain any parent can feel. The birth of our daughter gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness," according to Al-Youm Al-Sabaa.
He added, "We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all the care and support given. We are devastated and request privacy during this very difficult time. Our son, you are our angel, we will love you forever."
Cristiano had reached his 60th hat-trick in his career after winning against Norwich City 3-2. He posted a picture on Instagram, commenting, "I am very happy with this win and getting us back on track in the Premier League." He added, "As I said before, individual achievements only matter when they help us reach our goals as a team, and my 60th hat-trick in my career is more important because it brought us three points. Well done, everyone, tremendous effort. We do not give up, we fight until the end."
The Sun reported that Ronaldo will receive a £850,000 bonus for the hat-trick, along with an additional £100,000 for each goal he scores from now until the end of the current season. The newspaper clarified that Ronaldo's contract includes a £750,000 bonus for reaching 20 goals, plus £100,000 for scoring a hat-trick, which he achieved with the three goals against Norwich.
