Captain Dmitry Sontsov, the officer in charge of the Russian-Syrian joint monitoring, revealed that an additional Russian military police unit has been deployed to Hasakah in northeastern Syria.
According to the Russian news agency TASS, Sontsov stated, "Our unit has arrived at one of the joint observation points in Hasakah province. Its main mission is to contribute to calming the conflict in the area. Our personnel are monitoring compliance with the ceasefire and providing all kinds of assistance to the local population," emphasizing that the goal of this action is to strengthen the joint observation points with the Syrian army. The Russian agency mentioned that the first group of these reinforcements has arrived in Hasakah, noting that additional groups will join them in the near future and will be deployed in the towns of Ain Issa, Tal Tamr, and Amuda, among other residential centers.
The agency also reported that a Russian military transport aircraft delivered weapons, communication means, and other military equipment to the area. It is worth noting that in late December, a group of Russian military police was deployed in Ain Issa, where Syrian forces' positions were subjected to several attacks and shelling by armed groups loyal to Turkey, but when these positions became joint points, such attacks decreased.
It should be noted that according to agreements between Moscow and Ankara, units of the Russian military police have been deployed at observation points in Hasakah province to establish stability in the region.
