Antoine Habib, Chairman of the Board and General Manager of the Housing Bank, revealed in a statement that the bank has allocated a package of loans aimed at assisting Lebanese individuals from low-income backgrounds. He stated, "The Housing Bank is about to launch a website to serve those interested in applying for loans, which include a home purchase loan, a renovation loan, and a loan for solar energy installation."
He listed the types of loans and their conditions, indicating that "these loans are exclusively for Lebanese citizens of low income, provided they have not previously benefited from any housing loan and do not own a registered home in any part of Lebanon." The available loans include: a home purchase loan, with a maximum amount of 1 billion Lebanese Lira for purchasing an apartment of 120 square meters, payable over 30 years with an interest rate not exceeding 4.99%; a home renovation loan, with a maximum amount of 400 million Lira payable over 10 years with an interest rate of 4.99%; and solar energy loans with financial ceilings ranging from 75 to 200 million Lira, payable over 5 years with an interest rate of 4.99%.
He explained that "these loans are funded by the Arab Fund for Social and Economic Development in Kuwait and by the Central Bank of Lebanon," and announced that "the Housing Bank is about to sign a memorandum of understanding with the United Nations to support loans, with key conditions including cooperation, coordination, and transparency." He added that "the Housing Bank is in the process of signing a memorandum of understanding with the Lebanese Center for Energy Conservation."
Habib concluded: "The Housing Bank has provided a glimmer of hope for low-income individuals, and this initiative is exclusively for those with low income, with no share for the affluent or connections."
