German coach Jürgen Klopp, of Liverpool, has joined the campaign against Barcelona due to the club's excessive spending on new signings, despite the economic and financial difficulties it faces. Barcelona has managed to strengthen its squad through economic levers such as selling 25% of its La Liga broadcasting rights and selling 49% of its studios.
Klopp expressed his disappointment regarding this situation, stating in remarks reported by the Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo": "I don't understand it for several reasons. When you tell me you don't have the money, that doesn't mean I don't spend anything, that's how my bank card informed me twice, fortunately that was several years ago." He added: "I see that as a football fan, so I don't understand. The only club I know that sold its stadium and some rights in advance was Borussia Dortmund, and Watzke came in at the last moment and saved everything. I don't know if there is a Watzke at Barcelona or not."
Hans-Joachim Watzke is the CEO of Borussia Dortmund, appointed during the peak of the club's financial crisis in 2005, and he is credited with saving the German club from bankruptcy. It is worth mentioning that Barcelona has signed five new players: Andreas Christensen, Franck Kessié, Jules Koundé, Raphinha, and Robert Lewandowski.
