Lebanon's central bank governor, Riad Salameh, stated on Monday that he ordered an audit revealing that public funds were never a source of his wealth, denying a judge's accusation of unlawful enrichment. Salameh responded to a question sent by Reuters via text message, saying, "This audit report was submitted to the relevant authorities in Lebanon and abroad." Judge Ghada Aoun told Reuters earlier on Monday that she had charged Salameh with unlawful enrichment just days after she ordered the arrest of his brother Raja in the same case.
