Cardiology consultant and professor Dr. Khalid Al-Nimr warned young people against going to gyms to exercise or play sports without consuming adequate amounts of food, water, and fluids. Al-Nimr explained that ignoring these instructions could lead to sensations of dizziness, sweating, low blood pressure, and fainting. He wrote on his Twitter account, "Young people... no one should go to the gym hungry and without drinking enough water... then complain about dizziness, sweating, low blood pressure, and fainting after playing basketball or boxing. So, maintain balanced meals and sufficient amounts of water."
Several specialized medical websites emphasize the importance of snacks before exercise, as the body uses food as fuel to produce energy and supports all its functions. According to a report by "doctor-ndtv," Indian nutritionist Lovneet Batra mentioned that exercising makes us feel free and energetic, but before starting workout sessions, we should fuel our bodies. She explained that fruits are a good option because they are easy to digest and can be consumed on the go, making them an excellent snack before exercise. She clarified that pre-workout snacks have several health benefits, including preventing low blood sugar. Additionally, pre-exercise snacks can absorb some acids, helping to soothe your stomach, reduce hunger, and allow you to utilize muscle glycogen stores, contributing to direct fuel for your working muscles.
