As the world cautiously awaits the final five days of U.S. President Donald Trump's term, amid the heated conflict between Iran and the United States, Iranian media outlets have released a new video on social media featuring the Iranian missile strike on the "Ain al-Asad" base in western Iraq, where U.S. forces are stationed.
The video captures the moment the launch button was pressed for the missiles that hit the base located in Anbar Province, western Iraq, resulting in massive explosions and flames rising to dozens of meters. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps declared after the strike that "the attack resulted in the death of 80 American soldiers," while the United States denied any casualties among its forces. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps carried out its attack on the "Ain al-Asad" base in Anbar and the "Harir" base in Erbil, Kurdistan, in retaliation for the assassination of Qassem Soleimani, commander of the Quds Force, in a U.S. airstrike near Baghdad last year. The U.S. military deployed "Patriot" missiles for air defense in March, two months after its forces were targeted in the Iranian attack.
