A witness from outside the human realm is set to determine the fate of two suspects in a rape and murder case involving a woman in her forties. The British newspaper "The Sun" reported on Thursday that the key witness in the murder and rape case of Argentine Elizabeth Toledo (46 years old) is a parrot. Elizabeth had rented a house in the capital Buenos Aires with two friends, where she was killed after being raped in December 2018.
Upon the police's arrival at the scene, a policewoman noticed that the parrot was repeating, "No. Please. Let me go," which investigators believe to be the last words of the owner of the colorful bird. One neighbor testified in the case that he heard the victim scream, "Why did you hit me?" after which one of the suspects fled the house.
In addition to the parrot's and neighbor's testimonies, authorities gathered other evidence such as DNA. The two suspects, one aged 53 and the other 65, face a life sentence if convicted.
