Swiss pharmaceutical company Roche announced that its experts, in collaboration with specialists from its branch TIB Molbiol, have developed three types of tests to detect the monkeypox virus. These standard model kits are named LightMix. These models allow for the assessment of the virus's spread and could assist in monitoring the "potential impact of treatment, vaccination, and public health measures." The company states that one testing system detects the smallpox virus, the second detects the monkeypox virus, and the third detects all types of smallpox viruses. According to data from the World Health Organization, there have been 131 confirmed cases of monkeypox among humans worldwide, with another 106 suspected cases under surveillance. The highest number of infections is in Spain, Portugal, and the UK.
