What is Snapchat Streak?

For Snapchat users, there are various ways to track the performance of your posts on social media. On Instagram, your followers can tap, and give reactions to your stories, while on Twitter, you can see the number of likes and retweets. However, on Snapchat, everything revolves around a feature known as Snapchat streak.

So, what is Snapchat streak exactly, and why is it so important for Snapchat users?

A Snapchat streak occurs when you send snaps back and forth with a friend for a number of consecutive days. Each day that you send a snap to a friend, your streak increases. Snapchat rewards longer streaks with emojis; a 100 emoji indicates streaks that last 100 days, while a fire emoji represents a particularly long streak. You can see the length of your streak next to your friend's name in the Snapchat app.

The streak is represented by a small flame icon and the number of days the streak has been active, which only you and your friend in the streak can see. Snapchat streaks have become a primary measure of success on Snapchat, especially since it became possible to publicly display the number of followers (or subscribers) only starting November 2020. The app is largely used by a younger audience, with over half of Snapchat users in the UK aged 15 to 25 in 2020, while in the US, more than 50% of users are under 25 years old.
