The International Chamber of Commerce – Lebanon announced in a statement that "on January 3, 2022, through its presidency and general secretariat, it submitted a nomination request for Dr. Naila Khamir Obeid to the position of Vice President of the International Chamber of Commerce to the Secretary General in Paris. Based on this, she was elected by the general assembly during its session held on June 14, 2022, in Mexico, making her the first Lebanese, Arab, and Middle Eastern woman to hold this position, and the third in the world since the establishment of the institute 107 years ago, after having held and still holding a membership in the executive council of the chamber. Professor Khamir expressed during an open meeting with the staff of the International Chamber of Commerce (99th Virtual Town Hall) that she is convinced of the vision and mission of the ICC and the roles assigned to it globally. She emphasized that the chamber will continue to find the appropriate tools to provide sustainable solutions for the international business community, ensure equality in the world, and promote a culture of alternative methods for resolving international disputes.

Among the key tasks of the executive council of the International Chamber of Commerce is to develop and implement the chamber's strategy, policies, and work program, as well as oversee the financial affairs of the chamber. It is noteworthy that the ICC covers a wide range of countries and is associated with more than 45 million companies worldwide, addressing arbitration and dispute resolution, advocating for free trade, and combating corruption and commercial crime. The chamber also maintains direct communication channels with various governments around the world through its national committees, providing guidance to international governmental bodies on business issues that directly affect trade and business operations.

Professor Obeid has a long-standing active role in the International Chamber of Commerce branch in Lebanon, supporting its goals and enhancing its activities. This election crowns a path marked by successful efforts in the field of law and international arbitration, both academically and professionally. It is also notable that Professor Obeid is a founding partner of Obeid Law Firm and was previously elected as the president of the International Institute of Arbitrators in Britain."
