The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, has directed the establishment of a funeral prayer for Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan after the Isha prayer on Friday at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman expressed their deep condolences and sympathy to the government of the United Arab Emirates, the noble Al Nahyan family, the Emirati people, and to the Arab and Islamic nations on the passing of a leader who contributed greatly to his people, his nation, and the world.
The royal court stated today, Friday, that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince received the news of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan's passing with profound sadness and sorrow. King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman affirmed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its people share the grief of their UAE brethren during this great tragedy, praying for God to grant the UAE security, stability, prosperity, and success.
It is noted that the UAE announced on Friday the passing of its President, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed. The Ministry of Presidential Affairs posted on its Twitter account: "We mourn to the people of the UAE, the Arab and Islamic nations, and the whole world, the leader of our nation and the guardian of its path, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, who passed away today, May 13, having been pleased and content."
They also declared a period of official mourning with flags flown at half-mast for 40 days and announced a three-day suspension of work in federal, local ministries, and the private sector starting from Saturday, with work to resume on the following Tuesday.
