Pilgrims Head to Mina for the "Jamarat al-Aqaba" Throwing

Pilgrims Head to Mina for the

Pilgrims set off in the middle of the night, just before dawn on the first day of Eid al-Adha, moving from the Muzdalifah area towards Mina to throw stones at the largest jamarah (Jamarat al-Aqaba) with seven pebbles. This follows their standing at Arafat the day before and performing the greatest pillar of Hajj, after which they spent the night in Muzdalifah. The movement of the guests of the Most Merciful showed smooth transit between the holy sites, in accordance with the designated crowd flow plan. The pilgrims threw the pebbles provided by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, which were previously disinfected and packaged for each pilgrim, in line with the health protocols for this year's Hajj season.

After throwing at the Jamarat al-Aqaba, which must be done while in the state of Ihram, pilgrims proceed with the sacrifice of the hadiy (offering) and then perform the "minor exit" from Ihram by removing their Ihram clothing and shaving their heads. The throwing at the Jamarat al-Aqaba continues from sunrise on the first day of Eid al-Adha, the tenth of Dhu al-Hijjah, until just past noon, following the tradition of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Pilgrims will remain in Mina during the days of Tashreeq, which are the 11th, 12th, and 13th of Dhu al-Hijjah, completing the throwing at all three Jamarat, starting with the smallest, then the middle, and finally the largest, each with seven pebbles.
