In a new story highlighting the dangers facing drivers of Tesla electric vehicles, a car broke down on a busy highway, putting its driver at risk, as reported. Javier Rodriguez was driving a Tesla Model 3 on a highway in California when the car's screen suddenly malfunctioned, he told local television station KABC. He added that the incident occurred last Thursday, when the car was traveling at approximately 133 kilometers per hour. He mentioned that the main screen stopped functioning at that time, including the turn signal buttons and hazard lights.
He recalls, "I noticed that the temperature inside the car started to rise, and a strange smell began to fill the vehicle." Anxiety overcame him, as he realized that if he applied the brakes, he would not be able to accelerate back to the necessary speed to keep up with the fast-moving traffic around him. The car's accelerator did not respond, but fortunately, the brake pedal was operational, though that did not ease his anxiety.
Eventually, he managed to get off the road, and after a few minutes he restarted the car, with the help of a police officer who assisted him in getting off the highway and towing the vehicle. He stated that Tesla later informed him that they had virtually repaired the car. However, the American man expressed concern over the safety features of the car that could cause the onboard computer to shut down without warning. Tesla has not commented on this incident so far. The company has faced numerous issues with its electric vehicles, having to address mass defects, including recalling hundreds of thousands of these cars.
