Launch of Dozens of Satellites to Provide Internet Worldwide

A Russian Soyuz rocket, managed by the European company Arianespace, has launched 34 satellites for the British company OneWeb, which aims to provide high-speed internet across the globe. The rocket took off from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, according to a statement from the Russian space agency Roscosmos. OneWeb, in collaboration with the Indian company Bharti, plans to operate a global internet network by the end of 2022, based on 648 satellites. Under a contract with the European Arianespace, 16 launches of the Soyuz rocket will be carried out between December 2020 and late 2022. Many projects are underway to provide internet globally through satellite networks, according to AFP. In total, there are hundreds of satellites in orbit around the Earth to provide internet. Earlier, SpaceX, owned by billionaire Elon Musk, placed more than 1,500 satellites in orbit for its Starlink network. American Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon, also has a similar project named Kuiper.
