Liverpool "Kills" Salah's Olympic Dream While Solskjær Does the Opposite

Liverpool

Liverpool saddened millions of Egyptians by preventing star Mohamed Salah from participating with his national team in the Tokyo Olympics, a strategy not followed by rival Manchester United, which allowed players to represent their countries.

Egyptian Olympic national team coach, Shawky Gharib, announced weeks ago the list of players participating in the Tokyo Olympics, which did not include Liverpool's Mohamed Salah. English reports confirmed that Liverpool blocked Salah's participation due to a clash with the start of the Premier League, citing that it is not a major continental championship.

In contrast to Liverpool's stance on its players, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær had a different view regarding the tournament. He stated, "I think everyone, when they were young, watched the Olympics, and when your country calls, I cannot stand in the way of a childhood dream."

Solskjær's comments came after he was asked about allowing players Eric Bailly and Amad to represent Ivory Coast in the Olympics, unlike Liverpool's Jürgen Klopp, who did not permit Salah to participate.

The English press compared Solskjær's position to that of his rival Jürgen Klopp, who stood in the way of Salah's participation in Tokyo.
