A new app competing with Instagram allows users two minutes daily to post unfiltered real photos on its platform. The concept of the app is seen as a new technological surprise in the world of social networking, and it is called BeReal.
Upon downloading the app, you can click on the "Sign Up" option, where you agree to receive marketing emails from Insider, in addition to offers from other companies, and accept the platform's terms of service and privacy policy. Users have described it as a fun and new app, allowing you to post once a day at random times, receiving a notification that you have two minutes to take a real photo and publish it through the app.
They added that it’s a different type of selfie than what they are used to, as the front and back cameras capture the photo simultaneously, making it difficult to frame the perfect shot, which is the goal of the app. "BeReal" means abandoning filters and the reusing of edited photos, providing a mix of real but enjoyable images.
As for the downsides, some people occasionally miss the freedom to choose the time of posting, which is limited to two minutes in BeReal. There are times when the phone is not nearby at that specific moment, meaning you cannot post that day, and your photo will only reflect the number of hours you were late in capturing it.
It is noted that users have expressed uncertainty about whether the new app will become as popular as its social media counterparts, asserting that it doesn't lead to significant addiction. However, they insisted that if given the choice between it and other apps, they would choose BeReal over the others.
