Hours separate millions of people around the world from the permanent discontinuation of the famous messaging application WhatsApp. Recently, news about the ban on WhatsApp affecting millions of phones has dominated search engines, raising discussions and questions about why the app discontinues support for a large number of devices every year, denying them access to the service.
The American company announced that WhatsApp would be banned on millions of devices from the "Apple" and "iPhone" lines. As soon as the clock strikes twelve and one second past midnight on October 1, all devices running on old versions will lose service, and users will need to either change their phones or update their software.
Some users may have very old phones that cannot be updated following the WhatsApp ban decision, forcing them to purchase new smartphones. More than 40 different smartphone models are expected to be affected, according to the British newspaper "The Sun." For Android users, devices will need to be running Android 4.1 or later, while for iPhone users, any phone operating on iOS 9 or earlier will be unable to use the application, according to the official statement.
