The Turkish opposition decided to file a lawsuit alongside holding a press conference that lasted only 22 seconds, following their initial reaction to insults from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Turkish opposition leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu announced a lawsuit against Erdoğan, referring to his recent remarks during a speech at a meeting for the Justice and Development Party in Ankara, Ordu, and Şanlıurfa, where he called Kılıçdaroğlu "insolent and rude." Erdoğan also stated during the party conference that the opposition leader does not deserve to meet with Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar or Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu to discuss the incident involving the deaths of 13 Turkish soldiers. This provoked a strong reaction from Kılıçdaroğlu, who questioned, "Am I insolent for defending the rights of the martyrs?"
Additionally, the Vice President of the Republican People's Party, Deputy Özal, addressed President Erdoğan, saying, "Here are all the insults as you said," which was the only sentence he uttered during the press conference that lasted just 22 seconds.
On another note, the Turkish opposition set a new record for holding the shortest press conference in Turkey's history, and possibly the world.
In this context, it is noteworthy that Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar announced the discovery of the bodies of 13 Turkish citizens in the Gara mountainous region in northern Iraq, where the Turkish army is conducting a military operation against the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in the area. Akar stated, "The bodies were found in a cave that was heavily bombarded by the Turkish army and belong to civilians who had been kidnapped by the PKK."
