Saudi Arabia Supports Egypt and Sudan in the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam Issue

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced its continued support and backing for both Egypt and Sudan in preserving their legitimate water rights. It reaffirmed the importance of water security for Egypt, Sudan, the Arab world, and the African continent. In a statement issued on Tuesday evening, the Kingdom expressed its support for Egypt and Sudan's efforts to contain this crisis and their calls for a resolution based on international law. It also supports international initiatives aimed at finding a binding solution to end the impasse. Saudi Arabia urged the international community to intensify efforts to establish a clear mechanism to initiate negotiations among the three countries (Egypt, Sudan, and Ethiopia) to resolve this crisis in line with their interests, the interests of Nile Basin countries, and the future of the region's peoples, under international sponsorship and in coordination with the African Union and the Arab League.
