When they arrive, everyone stands and applauds, as if they are newlyweds, according to a new book by journalist Michael Wolff.
According to Business Insider, Wolff wrote in excerpts from his book "The Last Days of the Trump Presidency," published by The Times of London, that since leaving the White House, Trump has lived at his Florida club and hosted Republican senators and members of Congress seeking his endorsement.
Three people familiar with Trump and Melania's appearances at dinner parties mentioned that Melania smiles and waves while other diners rise from their seats to celebrate the couple’s arrival in the dining area. Wolff added, "When Trump and his wife come to the restaurant for dinner, everyone stands and applauds; it's as if they are a newly married couple: every night is a wedding as they dine and meet friends and well-wishers."
The author also noted that during their four years in the White House, it was not entirely clear how much time Melania Trump spent there or at their Maryland home. Melania made headlines early in Trump's administration for not moving to the White House immediately, staying with their son Barron in New York City until the end of the school year, which cost approximately $27 million to secure the family.
Melania Trump now has her official office but has remained out of the spotlight. A person close to the couple told CNN last April, "Melania Trump does not mingle with people; she rarely interacts with her husband’s staff." CNN reported that the Trump couple shares "a large number of rooms" at their residence, with Melania making frequent trips to the spa.
