Waitress Ryan Brandt did not enjoy the large tip she received from customers at a restaurant in Bentonville, Arkansas, last Friday, as the restaurant management decided to fire her. Ryan was serving with a colleague to a group of over forty people who had dinner at Oven and Tap, and it seems that the service was more than satisfactory, as noted by the customers.
When it came time to pay the bill, each person left a tip of $100, totaling $4,400 for both waitresses, according to details reported by KNWA, a network affiliated with NBC. Grant Wise, a real estate company owner and part of the group who generously tipped the waitresses, said he had previously contacted the restaurant to inquire about their tipping policy to ensure everything went smoothly.
However, things did not go as planned. Waitress Brandt stated, "They asked me to turn in the tip to the restaurant and leave with 20%." She added that the restaurant required her to share the tip with her coworkers, something she claims had never happened during her three and a half years of working there.
This action upset customer Wise, who requested the restaurant to return the tip, which he then gave directly to waitress Brandt outside. After that, the waitress says she was fired from the restaurant, describing the experience as "devastating," and noting that the restaurant told her she was terminated for violating their policy after informing a customer about the distribution of the tips.
