The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division issued the following statement: "As part of the ongoing efforts by the Information Branch of the Internal Security Forces to pursue and apprehend those involved in car thefts from various areas in Lebanon, and after several car thefts were reported in the Northern governorate, the branch intensified its investigative efforts to identify the perpetrators and arrest them. As a result of investigations and inquiries, a network involved in stealing cars, dismantling them, and then selling the parts in break areas in the northern regions was identified. The identities of its members were uncovered, including: J. H. (born in 2000, underreported) N. S. (born in 1978) F. B. (born in 1986) H. H. (born in 1988). Following this, orders were given to locate and arrest them. On 30-5-2022, after surveillance, one of the branch's patrols arrested the first and second individuals in one of the "break areas" in the Sakki - Tabbaneh neighborhood while they were selling parts of a stolen Honda vehicle from the Dahieh area. Simultaneously, patrols managed to arrest the third and fourth individuals in Al-Qubba, on a motorcycle and a stolen vehicle.
During a search of the first individual's warehouse in Tabbaneh, a quantity of license plates, documents belonging to stolen vehicles, and several car audio recording devices and amplifiers were found. Upon interrogating them, the first admitted to purchasing the stolen Honda from someone in the Dahieh area and collaborating with the other individuals to dismantle and cut it inside the second individual's shop to sell it in break areas. He also confessed to purchasing eight stolen vehicles from the same person, dismantling them, and selling them in break areas in Tripoli, with the help of the other three, who confirmed the accusations against them. Legal procedures were taken against them, and they were referred along with the seized items to the concerned authorities, based on the order of the competent judiciary. The search continues to apprehend one final accomplice."
