A Gold Asteroid Could Make Humans Wealthy," Al Arabiya published a news article highlighting that in a dream akin to fantasy, every person on Earth could become a billionaire if the U.S. space agency NASA successfully discovers an asteroid containing a vast amount of gold. NASA has confirmed that it is looking to explore the asteroid "Psyche" in a mission set to launch in 2022 to investigate the origins of the solar system, according to the British newspaper The Sun. The asteroid was discovered in the late 19th century and is located between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter, consisting of solid metal.
In addition to gold, the asteroid is believed to contain large quantities of platinum, iron, and nickel. Estimates suggest that the various metals of "Psyche" are worth £8,000 quadrillion, meaning that if brought back to Earth, it would devastate commodity prices and lead to a collapse of the global economy.
NASA stated that the spacecraft assigned to the mission will operate for 21 months to map and study 16 features of the asteroid using a multispectral imaging device, a gamma and neutron spectrometer, a magnetometer, and a radio device (to measure gravity). NASA believes that "Psyche" is one of the asteroids that survived violent collisions between planets, which were common during the formation of the solar system, indicating that it could inform us about how Earth's core and the cores of other rocky planets formed.
