The official Palestinian news agency stated on Tuesday that a tripartite Palestinian, Egyptian, and Jordanian summit is scheduled to take place in Cairo next Thursday. The agency mentioned on its official page that the aim of the summit is "to urge the American administration to fulfill its promises in preserving the two-state solution, through practical steps that put an end to the ongoing racist settlement policy in all Palestinian territories, especially in the Jerusalem Governorate, and to work towards opening a political path that leads to ending the occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state and the right of return for refugees." A Palestinian official told Reuters that the summit will include President Mahmoud Abbas, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, and Jordanian King Abdullah II. The official, who requested anonymity, stated to Reuters that the meeting aims to coordinate positions ahead of the United Nations General Assembly meeting next month. The official Palestinian news agency also quoted Palestine’s ambassador to Egypt, Diab Louh, saying that President Mahmoud Abbas will arrive in Cairo on Wednesday for an official visit.
