Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif stated that U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken needs to check the facts to see that Washington is the one that violated the nuclear agreement.
Zarif asserted that America's violation of the nuclear deal and its economic terrorism against Iranians necessitate that it take the first step. He urged the new U.S. Secretary of State not to forget the failure of Trump's policies and maximum pressure.
Zarif commented, "The behavior of President Joe Biden's administration is important for the Islamic Republic of Iran." Earlier, Iran's mission to the United Nations responded to the first statements from new U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken regarding the future of the nuclear agreement. The Iranian mission stated that "the current U.S. administration, like the previous one, violates its commitments stipulated in the nuclear agreement and United Nations Security Council Resolution 2231."
They added that "Iran's uranium enrichment to 20% is within the framework of the nuclear agreement, particularly Article 36, which allows Iran to suspend some or all of its commitments under the agreement." It is noteworthy that Biden, during his election campaign, was persistent in stating that he intended to return to the agreement signed by former President Barack Obama's administration in 2015, from which former President Donald Trump withdrew in 2018.
