Amazon has launched the new generation of its popular Kindle e-reader, featuring three models: Kindle Paperwhite, Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition, and for the first time, the Kindle Paperwhite Kids for children. The new Kindle Paperwhite offers a larger screen than the previous generation, equipped with a front light, adjustable color temperature, and a battery life of up to 10 weeks.
The device boasts a 6.8-inch display with slim 10.2mm bezels and an ultra-thin design, displaying a resolution of 300 pixels per inch, which reduces glare. Texts appear exceptionally clear on the screen, providing a reading experience similar to printed paper. The new Amazon device features a 10% brighter screen with adjustable color temperature, as well as a white-on-black dark mode.
It is rated IPx8, meaning it can withstand accidental water exposure, and it comes with 8GB of storage. The Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition includes a light sensor that automatically adjusts lighting based on ambient conditions and is the first Kindle device to support wireless charging.
It has up to 32GB of internal storage, accommodating thousands of books and many audiobooks and magazines, and it can be charged via a USB-C port in two and a half hours.
First E-Reader for Kids
Amazon also announced the release of the Kindle Paperwhite Kids, the first e-reader designed specifically for young reading enthusiasts, which comes with a suitable cover.
