Commodore Rabih Salam, the newly elected member of the Lebanese Olympic Committee and President of the Lebanese Yachting Federation, has denied rumors suggesting that his list is aligned with any political faction.
According to the National News Agency, Salam clarified that he did not ally with any political party, nor has he been associated with any political entity in his work and sports practices, neither now nor in the past. He mentioned that he initially formed a nucleus list with colleagues at the start of the electoral battle to confront anyone attempting to steer consensus or the battle into a political direction, actively rejecting such attempts.
Salam pointed out that the positive outcome was in his favor and that of his colleagues on the list, as he remained independent and free from the influence of any political party or sect. He emphasized that his success stemmed from his personal freedom and absolute conviction in his work, particularly in pure sports matters. He denied and condemned all rumors attributed to his list suggesting it represents multiple political factions, stressing that he has not met with any of them and that his alliances were built with known sports figures who enjoy the trust of their federations and clubs.
He condemned all media claims and called for corrections, emphasizing that his statement aims to keep sports free from politics and from ulterior motives that have become transparent to everyone, and are simply meant to mislead the public.
