Common Stains on the Mattress: 4 Ingredients for Removal

A study by Time4Sleep revealed that 40% of Brits do not recognize the need to regularly clean their mattresses, with 22% saying they have never cleaned them at all. Jonathan Warren, director of Time4Sleep, stated: "Thorough mattress cleaning can help address nighttime allergy attacks and improve overall sleep health and quality."

Jonathan added that a housekeeper needs a vacuum cleaner, baking soda, carpet cleaner spray, and a damp cloth for effective mattress cleaning, as baking soda and the cleaning spray remove stains and neutralize odors, according to British Express. After washing, stains on the mattress should be treated by combining baking soda and the cleaning spray, preferably using a mattress cleaning spray or carpet cleaner and spraying gently on the affected area.

Jonathan recommended "wiping the stain from the outside in, allowing the spray to work its magic before wiping with a damp cloth." Afterward, baking soda should be left on the mattress for up to 24 hours at least. The expert stated: "Using a mixture of the cleaning solution and baking soda should work very well against a variety of common household stains." Finally, any remaining baking soda, dust, and dirt on the mattress should be removed with a vacuum cleaner.
