Impersonating a Security Officer to Commit Robberies... Arrested in the Act!

The following statement was issued by the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Department: "As part of the ongoing monitoring conducted by the Beirut Police Unit's Investigation Division to combat robbery and theft operations in various areas of the capital.

As a result of extensive investigations and surveillance, one of the patrols managed, on May 23, 2022, to apprehend one of the suspects in the act while he was attempting to snatch a mobile phone from a citizen inside his car, impersonating a security officer in the Ramlet el-Baida area. It was found that he is named:

- M. Z. (born in 1986, claiming to be Palestinian) who has two arrest warrants against him. Upon searching him, a military ID card, a gun permit, and a movement permit, all belonging to a member of one of the military agencies, were found in his possession; these were taken from him by force at an earlier time near the Kuwaiti embassy area. The arrested individual, along with the seized items, was referred to the relevant authorities for legal action based on the direction of the competent judiciary."
