The Second Beirut Bomb

German media reported in a piece titled "The Second Beirut Bomb" that hazardous materials are still present at the Port of Beirut.

Sputnik reported, citing the German news network "NTV," that a German company is assisting in preventing a second disaster at the Port of Beirut, potentially as destructive as the disaster of August 4. The report stated that "during security and cleanup operations after the severe devastation at the port, workers found 52 containers containing partially rotting materials, representing more than 1,000 tons of chemical substances."

In this regard, the managing director of Combi Lift, Heiko Fielderhof, who is responsible for disposing of the chemicals found in the port after the explosion, stated: "We have to say it as it is: what we found here was a second Beirut bomb. I have never seen anything like it before."

A very powerful explosion occurred at the Port of Beirut on August 4, 2020, resulting in fatalities, injuries, and significant material damage to buildings, homes, and vehicles. Lebanese authorities stated that the explosion was caused by the presence of 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate that had been confiscated by customs in 2014 and stored in a warehouse.
