Saudi Health Ministry Announces New Measures for Booster Dose

The Saudi Ministry of Health announced that starting from February 1, 2022, the vaccination status will change after (8) months following the second dose. The ministry stated that the vaccination status does not change if the duration is less than (8) months. A responsible source from the Ministry of Interior previously emphasized the necessity of receiving the third booster dose to enter public facilities, entertainment venues, and public transportation. The source declared that beginning February 1, 2022, receiving the booster dose will be a condition for maintaining the status of "Vaccinated" in the "Tawakkalna" application, which is the vaccination passport for the Kingdom, for those who have passed 8 months or more since receiving the second dose, for individuals aged 18 and older. The source pointed out that from the mentioned date, showing the "Vaccinated" status in the "Tawakkalna" application will be required to enter any economic, commercial, cultural, sports, tourist activities, or any cultural, scientific, social, or entertainment events.

It has been confirmed that obtaining the booster dose will also be a requirement for entering any government or private facility for business or review purposes, as well as for boarding airplanes and public transportation. The source noted that individuals exempt from vaccination will be exempt from these conditions, stressing the importance for everyone to adhere to all precautionary measures, preventive actions, and approved health protocols. It was also mentioned that all procedures and measures are subject to continuous evaluation by the relevant health authorities, according to the developments in the epidemiological situation.
