3 Essential Fruits for the Body in Winter

Maintaining good immunity during the winter season requires adhering to a healthy diet that includes many beneficial nutrients for the body, such as different types of fruits that provide better health and protect against various diseases, particularly colds and flu. Dr. Anastasia Tarasiko, a Russian endocrinologist and nutritionist, revealed that the most beneficial fruits for the body in winter are apricots, bananas, and pomegranates.

The specialist stated in an interview with the Russian news agency Novosti, “We will take into account those that contain the least amount of calories and the most fiber, vitamins, and minerals. Fruits like cranberries and gooseberries, whether frozen or dried, completely meet these requirements; therefore, I advise consuming them regularly,” as reported by Russia Today.

She adds, “The composition of all fruits is almost similar—carbohydrates, glucose, fructose, vitamin C, B vitamins, potassium, magnesium, calcium, zinc, and other minerals. All of them are high in calories due to containing a large amount of simple carbohydrates, so it is not recommended to overeat them; consuming 1-2 pieces a day is sufficient.”

The expert points out the traditional fruits necessary for the body in winter:

1. **Apricots**: Apricots can be stored frozen or dried, and in both cases, they retain a high percentage of potassium, magnesium, and vitamins. Additionally, apricots have a mild stimulating effect on the intestines.

2. **Bananas**: Bananas are rich in dietary fiber, potassium, and carbohydrates, making them an ideal snack. They also contain tryptophan, a precursor to the happiness hormone—serotonin.

3. **Pomegranates**: Pomegranates can be stored throughout the winter and retain all their beneficial properties thanks to their special internal structure. Pomegranate juice is rich in iron, magnesium, vitamin C, and numerous biologically active substances like bioflavonoids. Also, the skin of pomegranates has anti-inflammatory healing properties and aids in the rapid healing of wounds.
