The Governor of the North, Judge Ramzi Nahra, has requested municipalities, the Union of Municipalities, and the municipalities of Tripoli District to enlist young people to assist citizens and individuals with disabilities in filling out applications for scheduling COVID-19 vaccine appointments.
According to the National News Agency, Governor Nahra issued a directive today to the mukhtars, numbered 5/2021, requesting that municipalities and the Union of Municipalities, as well as villages without municipal councils, engage young people, particularly university students in medicine, nursing, and other fields, to help citizens and individuals with disabilities complete vaccine appointment requests.
The directive states, "Since the Ministry of Public Health has established the online platform covax.moph.gov.lb to allow citizens to apply for vaccination appointments by filling out the designated form and submitting it with the required information, and since some citizens, particularly those with disabilities, may find this difficult for various reasons, the mukhtars are instructed to request municipalities, the Union of Municipalities, and the municipalities of Tripoli District to seek out youth volunteers to assist these individuals.
The municipality offices and unions will receive these volunteers, who will also be tasked with visiting the homes of citizens to organize lists containing the names of individuals requesting vaccine appointments, their phone numbers, health conditions, and addresses. If there is no personal phone number available, a method of connecting with them should be established, and communication with the Ministry of Health should be coordinated. Furthermore, all lists should be maintained and the procedures taken should be reported."
