The Jordanian State Security Court has scheduled a session for next Monday to announce the verdict in the "conspiracy" case. Today, Tuesday, the sixth session of what is popularly known in the media as the conspiracy case was held in the Jordanian capital, Amman. In this case, Basem Awadallah, the former head of the royal court, and Sharif Hassan Ben Zaid are being prosecuted for charges related to conspiracy and incitement against the ruling regime, endangering the security and safety of Jordan.
The defense counsel was expected to present their statements to refute the charges against the defendants, following the State Security Court's previous decision to reject the inclusion of a list of 27 witnesses, including three princes. On July 1, the court had denied the defense's request for the presence of Princes Hamzah, Ali, and Hashim, along with other witnesses, to testify in the conspiracy case, as stated by the lawyer for the accused, Basem Awadallah.
The defense attorney in the Jordanian "conspiracy" case indicated that the military court had rejected a request on Thursday for the summons of Prince Hamzah bin Hussein to testify in the case involving an individual previously close to the royal family accused of destabilizing the country. The attorney for Basem Awadallah, the principal defendant in the "conspiracy" case, announced on Wednesday that he would request the presence of Prince Hamzah bin Hussein, the former crown prince, to testify in the fourth session of the Jordanian State Security Court, where Awadallah and Sharif Hassan Ben Zaid, a friend of Prince Hamzah and a member of the royal family, are being tried.
